Pfeiffer apprentices go to Berlin to attend the awards ceremony for the Energy Scouts project
Energy scouts are specially trained apprentices who support their companies in the wise use of energy. They acquire the required energy efficiency know-how from the Chambers of Industry and Commerce, assuming responsibility in the companies for which they work for their own projects.
The first participation in the CCI project “Energy-Scouts” was worthwhile for the Pfeiffer apprentices. As they took eighth place straight away in Rhineland-Palatinate (more information on this is available below for download), they were invited to attend the national awards ceremony in the German capital.
In recognition of the great success, Gebr. Pfeiffer treated its apprentices Fabian Hähner (soon-to-be computer science specialist), Tristan Müller (soon-to-be industrial business management assistant), Jannik Scheller (soon-to-be industrial mechanic) as well as Mathias Isaak (meanwhile trained mechatronics technician) to an additional day of sightseeing in Berlin. So it was that three apprentices (Mathias Isaak was unfortunately on leave), accompanied by Stephan Christmann, their mentor for the manufacturing sector, travelled to Berlin one day earlier.
On Monday, 26th June, the four had plenty of opportunity to take photos at the Brandenburg Gate, of the Reichstag and the Hackesche Höfe before they finished the evening over a delicious dinner in a comfy atmosphere. On Tuesday morning, on their way to the event, they visited the Olympic Stadium.
The official part of the journey began on Tuesday evening with a boat trip on the river Spree, organized by the hosts of the project. The trip offered ample opportunity to get to know each other and exchange ideas in an informal setting. The day was rounded off with a joint dinner on board the ship.
From 10 o’clock on Wednesday morning the prize awarding ceremony took place in the House of the German Economy. The television presenter Yve Fehring hosted the ceremony. After a welcome address and an interlude of a Berlin improvisation theatre, the three best national energy scouts projects as well as a project that received a special prize for resource efficiency were honoured by the Federal Environment Minister, Barbara Hendricks, and the Deputy Managing Director of the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), Achim Dercks.
Although the Pfeiffer apprentices did not rank among the national winners, they received their certificate during this ceremony for their excellent performance in Rhineland-Palatinate. After a small lunch they set out on their journey back home.
It is an amazing success of the Pfeiffer recruits, who took part for the first time and achieved right away second place among the participants from Palatinate and eighth place among the participants from Rhineland-Palatinate. The whole Pfeiffer team congratulates the energy scouts on their excellent performance and looks forward with eager anticipation to the next project of the energy scouts!
