Gebr. Pfeiffer Technical Panel 2015 in Hanoi, Vietnam
4th Pfeiffer Technical Seminar 2015 in Hanoi met with much acclaim
In November 2015 Gebr. Pfeiffer organized its 4th International Technical Seminar in the seven-million metropolis of Hanoi. Encouraged by the success of previous locally held customer events, the family-owned company had a great many interesting lectures also for its Vietnamese clients to listen to. In addition, networking opportunities were built into the seminar programme and a platform for exchanging experience and information was provided. Thanks not least to this kind of interaction, Gebr. Pfeiffer again demonstrates a closeness to its clients across the globe.
The high level of acceptance of Gebr. Pfeiffer's Technical Seminars was also confirmed in Vietnam by the keen interest of more than 80 attendees. The event focused on the Pfeiffer vertical roller mills of the type MVR and MPS used in the cement industry.Welcoming the numerous participants from Vietnam and Thailand, Patrick Heyd, Executive Director Sales and Project Engineering, started the lecture session with an overview of Gebr. Pfeiffer's 151 years of tradition and long standing experience. In fact, Pfeiffer vertical roller mills have been grinding raw material and coal since the 50ties and, as a logical consequence of this, cement for more than 35 years.
New PFEIFFER mill technology
The following lecture informed the attendees about the design principles as well as new and further developments of the Pfeiffer vertical roller mills and their drive technology. Pfeiffer engineers work continuously on the technological improvement of MPS mills which led to the MPS mills being still in high demand and to more than 2500 mills operated successfully across the globe. Driven by changing market needs, the development of an entirely new mill technology also belongs to the company's foresighted philosophy. The Pfeiffer MVR mill is such an innovation which first went on stream in 2006. More than 40 MVR mills were sold by now to customers all over the world, one of them is the biggest cement mill ever, producing to the full satisfaction of the customer in Brazil. Driven by an 11,500 kW MultiDrive® with 6 identical drive modules of 1,920 kW each, the mill will be producing 450 tph of slag cement. Thanks to the active redundancy of drive modules and grinding rollers, the mill reaches levels of reliability never seen before. The use of only one vertical roller mill of the type MVR now allows, for the first time ever, throughput rates to be achieved that so far required the installation of two parallel-arranged vertical mills.
General optimization, process control and troubleshooting: important information for mill operators and maintenance personnel
Tailor-made to suit the needs of the seminar's attendees all having long-standing field experience, the next lecture opened up a broad range of possible measures to optimize the grinding process. It also provided the basis for the following presentations dealing with maintenance works required to ensure a trouble-free operation of vertical roller mills. In addition, helpful tips on how to service the equipment were shared with the audience. The final lecture addressed the connections between varying operating parameters.
Spare parts service and technical documentation
The first day of the presentations was rounded off by giving an insight into the spare parts service and the technical documentation. The lecture focused on the effective use of digital documents and the sequence of the required steps to be taken to ensure a quick and convenient order processing in the spare parts business. At the end of the first day the guests of Gebr. Pfeiffer were treated to a dinner which again provided a platform for extensive networking, discussion and exchange of information.
Reliable sub-suppliers and partners
The second day seamlessly continued the practice-oriented presentations of the previous day. Sub-suppliers of Gebr. Pfeiffer gave an insight into their portfolio and range of services offered. They made interesting contributions to the subjects of lubricants (Fuchs Lubritec), hydraulics (Hydac International) and mechanical drives (Siemens-Flender).
